The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) voted on Wednesday, May 5, to hire Middlesex High School graduate and assistant superintendent of Middlesex schools Tracy Seitz as superintendent of Middlesex County Public Schools (MCPS).
Dr. Seitz is only the second MHS graduate to be named to the post. The late Walter Allen Harrow was a MHS graduate and was superintendent when Middlesex and Essex county schools shared a superintendent.
Dr. Seitz is replacing Peter Gretz, who is leaving in July to become superintendent of the Fluvanna County public school system.
Dr. Seitz is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. She also has a master’s degree in Education with a Special Education concentration from Old Dominion University and a master’s degree in Educational Policy, Planning and Leadership from the College of William and Mary. She has a doctoral degree in Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She was a Special Education teacher in the school system from 2001-2009 when she was named assistant principal at St. Clare Walker (SCW) Middle School. She was later named principal at SCW and served from 2010 until 2016, when she was named assistant superintendent of MCPS.
She lives in Deltaville with her husband Paul. They have two grown children, Shelby and Jacob…
