Deltaville’s Holly Point Market now offers produce

After a long run of no markets due to COVID-19, and not having a produce vendor, the Holly Point Market along with its volunteers and staff sincerely welcomes Franco Produce of Warsaw to the market’s eclectic mix of arts, crafts, honey, gifts, peanut and other vendors. Franco will make its first appearance at this Saturday, May 22 edition of the market, which is on the grounds of the Deltaville Maritime Museum. (Contributed)

The Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) and Holly Point Nature Park are swinging into their events season this Saturday, May 22, as produce rejoins the Holly Point Market vendor mix and bluesman Bobby Messano welcomes us all to Deltaville! There will be live music by Urbanna’s David Moran during the 9 a.m.-1p.m. market and free workboat tours and cruises at 10 a.m. on DMM’s Mill Creek “Pierwalk” on the deadrise boat “Jennie May.”

The attending vendors will be spaced with one empty space between each vendor. Masking will still be required. All current COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines will be followed. Word is that all restrictions will be lifted May 28 and masking/spacing will no longer be required for the June 26 events. Hooray!

Due to the 14-month COVID-19 hiatus, many of our Holly Point Market vendors went into COVID-19-enforced “hibernation.” It may take several markets for them all to regroup and get back on board. Help us get back to normalcy.

The museum and park currently have 16 vendors signed up and are still taking applications daily for the rest of the season. We are sure everyone will be happy to hear we now have a produce vendor, Franco Produce, beginning at the May 22 market, this Saturday.

Any and all vendors who are interested in joining our market, please call the museum office and reserve your space. The number is 804-776-9738.

On Saturday, May 22, we present local artist beach and soul musician Ray Pittman with Tim Moore from 5-6 p.m. with super blues guitarist Bobby Messano from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate.
