Jamaica, other unserved areas, to get fiber system in two years

The Middlesex Broadband Authority (MBA) is considering a memorandum of understanding with Dominion Energy (DE) and All Points Broadband last month to provide Fiber to the Home (FTTH) in the unserved areas of Middlesex County.
“This is especially needed in the Jamaica District area of the county,” said Gentry. “The MBA was in the process of planning to deploy a wireless system, but has put that project on hold to work on a terrestrial fiber system instead.”
The first step on the fiber project will be to do a house-to-house inventory and verification to determine exactly which locations in the county still lack access to broadband, said Gentry. After making that determination, a high-level network design will be completed. It is hoped that by the second year of the project, network construction would commence…
