Suicide prevention event announced

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and it is a time to raise awareness of those living with mental or behavioral health issues as well as those in crisis.  The public is invited to attend a free, hybrid event either virtually or in-person (masking required) to address suicide prevention on Monday, May 17, from 12-1:30 pm at the Middlesex Historic Courthouse.  Register online at:  https://bit.ly/3tpBkCZ.

The “We Are Not Alone” Suicide Prevention roundtable will feature local leaders and mental health experts to discuss crisis response and suicide prevention actions including how to identify, assist and respond and transition care to professionals.  Dr. Kent Corso is a licensed clinical psychologist and board certified behavior analyst with NCR Behavior Health.  Dr. Corso is the keynote speaker and moderator of the roundtable discussion.

Other key participants at the roundtable include Janika Joyner, licensed clinical social worker and certified clinical trauma professional of Higher Elevation Psychosocial Services, Casey Mewborn of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department, Rebecca Morgan of the Middlesex Department of Social Services, and John Koontz, Middlesex County Board of Supervisors, Hartfield District.

This event is held in coordination with the Middlesex County Community Services Board, the County of Middlesex, and Cornerstone Whole Healthcare Organization, Inc.
