Middlesex boys soccer squad topples King William, 4-1

by Larry Chowning –

The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity boys soccer team overcame intermittent rain and an aggressive opponent to beat the A-2 division King William Cavaliers, 4-1, on Thursday night, May 6, and to raise the Chargers win-loss record to 2-0.

“This was a tough game,” said Head Coach Macky Hall. “King William had the tactic right. Their coach knows we’re a group that values possession. He also knew that with a rough field and wet conditions, playing that way was going to be a challenge.”

“I thought we grew a bit today,” M. Hall said of his team. “These are the kinds of games we need to survive if we want to move past regional play.

“Overall, I did not feel the group took the game seriously and our early play reflected that. Once we settled in and played with urgency, good things happened. Lots of work to do, but we’re getting there,” said M. Hall.

The Chargers traveled to Mathews, Wednesday, May 12, to take on the Mathews Blue Devils.
