The Middlesex High School (MHS) girls track team finished second in a quad meet against King William, Washington & Lee (W&L) and Carver Academy on Thursday, May 6, at MHS.

The Lady Cavaliers of King William won the team competition with 329 points. Middlesex finished second with 198 points; W&L, third, 129 points; and Carver Academy, 26 points, fourth.

MHS was paced by Lane Anderson who set another school record to win the shot put (41’2”) and had a personal best throw (121’5”) in the discus to win that event. This is the fourth time Anderson has broken the school record in the shot put and she is chasing the discus record held by Sharon Boyd who broke the MHS school record in 1995 to win state that year with a 125’1” throw.

The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger boys track team finished second to King William Cavaliers in a quad meet last Thursday, May 6 at MHS.

The Cavaliers won the meet with 319 points; Middlesex, second, 195 points; Washington & Lee, third, 129; and Carver Academy, fourth, 26 points.

The Chargers were paced by Neaven Johannsen and Wyatt Brown. Johannsen finished first in the high jump (5’ 4”); first, triple jump (35’ 9.5”); first, discus (110’ 9.5”); and second, long jump (16’ 9.5”). The Charger hurdle star Brown won the 110 high hurdles (16.63) and 300 intermediate hurdles (45.37).


The Chargers hosted Charles City, Lancaster and King & Queen (K & Q) on Tuesday, May 11 and will host Carver Academy, Essex, K & Q, Mathews and Washington & Lee on Friday, May 14 at 4 p.m.
