Carolyn Johnson Major

Carolyn Johnson Major, 77, of Saluda, went to be with Jesus peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

She was married to her loving husband, Robert, for 58 years.

She was well known for her exceptional domestic engineering abilities. She was well skilled in cooking, canning, freezing and entertaining. Her cooking was known throughout the county, as well as across the country, as many folks were welcomed into her home from all over for meals.  In past years, she was also known as the “Coupon Queen.” She loved to travel.  She loved her yearly trips to the Outer Banks and Maine and bus trips to Pennsylvania. They visited many states and even enjoyed a river cruise in Europe, as well as a favorite trip to Israel.

She was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church for most of her life.  She and Robert were married there on Sept. 30 after the Sunday church service, so the family is pleased it can have her visitation there as well to celebrate her life.

She is proceeded in death by her father and mother, Gilbert and Helen Johnson; and her nephew, Webster (Webby) Brooke Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Cindy and husband Mark, Jackie and husband Jeff, Bill and wife Jenny, and Amy.  She has 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Andrew, Rebecca, Blakely, Brayden, Caroline, Graham, Alexis and Mason.  She also has 11 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Samuel, David, Emma, Olivia, Caleb, William, Micah, Robby, Jackson and Magnolia. Also a sister, Ellen and husband Webster; and many nieces and nephews.  She had four grand dogs, Buttercup, Ruby, Cutter and Ernie (her favorite).

Arrangements are made by Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda.

The family requests donations be made to Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad (MCVRS) in her memory.

A graveside service was conducted at the Major Family Cemetery.
