Faye Jones Kennard, 82, of Deltaville and Williamston, N.C., passed peacefully while surrounded by family on Saturday, April 24, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Nellie Haislip Jones; her sisters, Shirley Bryant and Della Gurganus; brother, James D. (Tommy) Jones; and her son, Jeffrey Wayne Hopkins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 11 years, George “Dellie” Kennard; her sisters, Linda Edwards (Bobby), Patricia Mizelle, Phyllis White (Phil) of Windsor, N.C.; brothers, J.P. Jones (Lynn) of Poquoson, and Jimmy Jones ( Frances), of Yorktown; and many other extended family members and friends. She loved her nieces and nephews and special friend, Aubrey Lynn Hudgins of Mathews.
Faye started working at Roses 5-10 Stores in Williamston, N.C. as a sales clerk and worked her way up to manager. She traveled throughout North Carolina setting up Roses stores until retirement in Asheville, N.C. Retirement was not for her, so she went to work with WilsonsArt, in Asheville, N.C. as a table supervisor in the assembly department, where they made formica counters. She enjoyed the work there and the people she worked with.
After retirement at WilsonsArt, she moved to Wake to be near family. She enjoyed working in the yard with flowers whether it was her yard or a friends. She enjoyed attending events at Philippi Christian Church in Deltaville with her husband. She touched many lives with her generosity of spirit and was always willing to help anyone.
In keeping with Faye’s wishes, there will be no formal services planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Middlesex County Rescue Squad, 17684 General Puller Highway, Deltaville, VA 23043.
