Patrick Aloysius Bahen, 72, of Mechanicsville, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Bon Secours Hospice in Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Eck Bahen (2002).
He is survived by his longtime friend and close companion, Sharyn Urofsky of the Virginia Home in Richmond; by first cousins, John E. Eck of Corea of Maine and Stephen L. Eck of West Palm Beach, Fla.; by three cousins once removed, Elizabeth C. Eck and Caroline Z. Eck of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Emily B. Eck of Madison, Wis.
Patrick Bahen was born in 1948, in Richmond, the son of Aloysius Leo Bahen and Elizabeth Eck Bahen, who later divorced. Pat was a life-long resident of Richmond, where he attended public schools, and later retired in Mechanicsville.
He was most recently employed by the Engineering Department of Westminster Canterbury Retirement Community, from which he retired in 2014.
He was an avid supporter of the firefighting community and had previously served as a volunteer firefighter.
Pat was an enthusiastic fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Pat will always be remembered for his devotion to the service others, and especially by his many friends in the firefighting community, and The Virginia Home.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 9 at Bliley’s-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. A graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 10 at Hollywood Cemetery.
