Officials OK $1.6 million elementary school HVAC work

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) is moving forward to install new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) rooftop units at Middlesex Elementary School (MES) in Locust Hill.

The MCBS voted unanimously on March 2 to authorize the Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) to proceed with the HVAC project at MES with Honeywell Industries for the amount of $1,695,023 with the intention of completing the project this year (2021).

At the November 2020 MCBS meeting, Superintendent Peter Gretz informed the board that two years ago five of the six HVAC units at MES reached “end-of-life cycles.”

Replacement of the HVAC units had been approved in capital improvement plans…
