There were many unknowns at the start of the pandemic, but there was one thing Dawn Fleet knew for certain: in-person learning was essential.
Fleet, head of school at Ware Academy, along with the faculty and staff, immediately went to work preparing to open their doors for the 2020-2021 school year on Aug. 10 for in-person instruction, five days a week. With protocols in place, masks and sneeze guards on the table, Ware welcomed students on campus, allowing families the option to remain virtual for the school year. Almost eight months later, 149 of 152 students attend in-person. Many of those attending live in Middlesex County.
Fleet credits the commitment of her faculty and Ware families for making this possible. “I am in awe of the dedication of our staff and families to the overall health of the Ware community.” It has been a very successful school year with minimal class closures and no school transmission of the virus.
