Debbie’s Family Restaurant in Locust Hill lost most of its lunchtime business on March 25 when construction crews laying pipe for the Middlesex Water Authority dug across the entrance, said owner Debbie Warnick.
Construction crews were supposed to dig the previous day when the restaurant is closed, but rain canceled the work.
The next day, Warnick said, crews started digging at 11 a.m., which is right before her lunch time. An MWA inspector was sent to the scene and told crews they were supposed to leave half of the entrance open, but as soon as he left they continued digging across the entire entrance, she said.
The crews put down a large metal plate so customers could drive around the work area, said Warnick. However, it was not readily visible so customers didn’t know to use it, and it was blocked at times…
