Middlesex High School All-State volleyball player Airiana Beverley signed a letter of commitment this week to play volleyball at Ferrum College in Ferrum, which is near Rocky Mount.

Last season, as a junior, Lady Charger Beverley was named to the second team All-State and was chosen to the first team All-District and first team All-Region A.

Beverley is in her fourth year on the varsity Lady Chargers. She also made the JV team as an eighth grader.

As an outside hitter Beverley is a threat at the net. Last season she recorded 258 kills and 33 blocks. (A kill is a hit that is not returned.) As this 12-game s

eason began, she was 95 kills away from breaking the MHS kill record. In the first seven matches this season, Beverley added 70 more kills. If she gets 26 more kills in the five remaining matches, Beverley will claim the kills record at MHS.

Beverley is among the trio of Lady Chargers who have signed to play college volleyball in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Laura Walton has signed to play at Randolph-Macon College. Last season she was first team All-State and was chosen Tidewater District Player of the Year and the Region A Player of the Year. Walton ended last season with 114 aces, 200 kills, 396 assists and 138 digs.

Elizabeth Ketner has signed with Radford College. Last season she was named to second team All-State. Ketner was also named Tidewater District and Region A Libero of the Year. She contributed 286 digs and 61 serving aces last season.
