Circuit Court clerk to retire on March 31

Middlesex County (MC) attorney Heather Lewis announced at the March 2 MC Board of Supervisors meeting that clerk of the Middlesex County Circuit Court Lynn Dunlevy will retire on March 31.

A Middlesex native, Dunlevy, 66, went to work in the clerk’s office in 1992 and went on to become chief deputy clerk under clerk Peggy Walton. When Walton retired in 2012, Dunlevy won a special election to fill the years left on Walton’s eight year term.

She won her own eight year term in 2015 and she has served six years into that term. Lewis announced at the supervisors meeting there will be a special election in November to fill the years left on Dunlevy’s term.

“It certainly has been a pleasure working for the people of Middlesex County as clerk,” said Dunlevy. “I was born and raised in the county and I’ve worked a job since I was 14 years old.”

“I’m almost 67 years old and I think it is time that I retire,” she said. “I plan to travel some but mostly I want to spend more time with my grandchildren…
