Multiple changes ahead for Hummel Field area in Topping

Hummel Field at Topping

by Tom Chillemi –

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors sold 1.5 acres at Hummel Field airport in Topping to Oscar Barber, the pilot and businessman who plans to build six airplane hangars. The board’s March 2 action followed a public hearing, which was required before selling the county-owned land. The sale price is $15,000, and as part of the deal, Barber will widen and pave the taxiway to the fuel pumps.

Barber said he will sell the hangars to investors who would keep their aircraft in the hangars.

Barber, of Delaware Corporation (DelCorp) in Topping, said this week he hopes to begin hangar construction this summer.
