The Middlesex High School Lady Chargers started their season with a three-game sweep of the visiting King William Lady Cavaliers on Monday. The Lady Chargers won the first and third sets 25-9 and 25-15, but King William put up a fight in game two that went deep into overtime before Middlesex prevailed 33-31.
“I was very pleased with the way we played,” said Lady Charger Head Coach Brian Walton. “We had a little game rust to knock off, but overall we played well! In the second set the girls lost their mental focus but fought very well to get the win.”
The Lady Chargers will travel to King and Queen County tonight, Thursday, March 4, and host Mathews on Monday at 6 p.m. in Saluda.
Matches will be played with COVID-19 protocols…
The high school will be streaming home games live on YouTube.
