VDOT to pay 80 percent of estimated $1 million Stingray Pt. to LMVFD trail

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) approved on Feb. 2 a “local share” $200,235 match as part of a $1 million Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) grant to build a multi-purpose path in Deltaville.
VDOT’s portion of the grant will be $800,000 and unless the cost of the project goes over the $1 million estimate the county’s obligation will be the match.
Assistant County Administrator Betty Muncy reminded the board that supervisors have set aside $250,000 in the budget for the match, which means there is nearly another $50,000 available for cost overruns.
Longest also pointed out that aspects of the multi-path design can be eliminated to bring costs down. He noted there was probably not enough funding for a plan to build a bridge across Mill Creek…
