The Middlesex Shooting Sports Club (MSSC) in Hartfield reached a milestone recently as its membership passed the 1,000 member mark.

MSSC was founded in fall 1999 as the Middlesex Pistol Hunters Club with only five members and changed its name to the Middlesex Shooting Sports Club in 2009. The MSSC range, located at 1860 Twiggs Ferry Road in Hartfield, is a family-oriented club focused on firearm marksmanship and firearm safety training.

The club is a not-for-profit organization serving Middlesex, Gloucester and Mathews counties and other surrounding communities. The club’s facilities include a covered 100-meter range for pistol and rifle shooting, and skeet, trap, and five-stand fields – all with electric target throwers – for shotgun enthusiasts. The club also has a 3,600 square foot clubhouse that is used for social events and firearms training.

According to Club President Barbara Wallace, “our membership has grown a lot in the past few years because of our great facilities, friendly and knowledgeable staff and our commitment to family participation and firearms training…

Anyone interested in the club is encouraged to come visit during operating hours or contact the club membership coordinator by emailing msscmembership1@gmail.com.
