COVID-19 concerns have kept Middlesex County Public Schools’ gyms quiet so far this winter, as cautious Middlesex school system officials previously decided the safest course would be to just cancel sports. However, some youth who live in Middlesex have still been able to play school sports these past few months and are even close to now wrapping up what have been mostly full seasons. These youth are the five Middlesex residents who play on the girls and boys basketball teams of a Gloucester private school — Ware Academy.

The Wave girls hoops team includes Katelyn Carnes, Hannah Harris, Cara Moss and Kayleigh Moye. The Waves boys team includes Blake Berry. All live in Middlesex.

The boys final regular season game is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 at Hampton Christian Academy.

It should be noted that Ware has strictly followed Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 guidelines, limiting and socially distancing fans watching the games, as well as calling for them to wear facial coverings.
