George David “Dave” Magill, 85, died peacefully with his beloved daughters around him on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021.
Born on April 27, 1935, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Maggie) Magill.
His survivors include, daughters, Dougie Phillips (Loren), Rebecca Hiles (Matt), and Carrie Mendez (Frank); grandchildren, Katy Phillips, Loren Phillips, and Meredith Beeston; and multiple grand- and great-grand dogs.
A life-long educator, Dave was a professor in the Health and P.E. Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. After his retirement, Dave and Maggie moved to the river in Deltaville, where they enjoyed boating, and Dave’s passion of fishing. He absolutely loved having friends and family down to visit and go on fishing trips.
In each phase of his life, Dave’s friends became family and he treasured them all. A celebration of Dave’s life is planned at his home in Deltaville when the weather gets warmer and everyone can gather safely. The family hopes that everyone who loved him can come and share their stories and memories.
