Cynthia Beverley, the owner of A Mother’s Love home daycare in Wake, dressed her eight daycare girls in pearls and pretty dresses to honor the first woman of color and the first woman vice president, Kamala Harris, on Jan. 20 Inauguration Day. The girls said they looked pretty and special! They noticed Vice President Harris was wearing pearls when she came on stage to be sworn in.

Beverley had all the boys and girls watch the swearing in of the president and vice president of the United States of America.

She told them that as little girls of color they too can one day become vice president or president, but first they had to learn how to be more caring, loving and had to show more respect for their friends. One little girl asked if she had to be loving to the child who kept taking her toys and Beverley said, “Yes you do! You will be teaching them how to show love also.”

Beverley has been operating her Virginia state licensed daycare business for 14 years and has continued to stay open doing the COVID-19 pandemic to help her daycare parents, all of whom are essential personnel workers. “I know it’s  been a risk allowing kids and parents to my home,” Beverley said. “But I also know my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, so my faith has grown stronger and stronger each day  as I greet my happy children and wonderful parents each morning at my door.”
