Deploying wireless broadband is at the top of the recently adopted Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for Middlesex County. Building wastewater collection systems is the second priority.
The Middlesex Board of Supervisors approved the CIP for years 2021-2025 at its Jan. 5 meeting following a public hearing.
The CIP is strictly advisory, states the plan’s introduction. The CIP is intended for use as a capital facilities planning document, and is not a request for funding allocations for a county capital budget. The CIP deals with expenditures that have a useful life of more than 5 years and have a total cost that exceeds $50,000 in total funding.
Being listed on the CIP does not guarantee funding.
Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) funds are being used to purchase and install additional wireless broadband equipment on the Jamaica District communications tower…
