Keep Christmas joy alive throughout the new year

Pastor Aaron Wells

The Bible’s second chapter of Luke records the account of Jesus’ birth. Mary and Joseph were waiting for the delivery day. There was political, social, and religious unrest. It had been more than 450 years since God had spoken to His people through a prophet. Life was a mess, and God seemed silent. But He was working.

Mary and Joseph knew that the child that was about to be born would be the long-awaited answer of the promises God had made to the people. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, just outside of Jerusalem. Angels from heaven appeared to shepherds in the fields who were watching over lambs that were used for temple sacrifices. The announcement was made, “Don’t be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.” (Luke 2:10)

Is there a way to keep the joy of Christmas with us even after the lights come down? Is there a way to hold onto hope…
