Patricia Abbott Ellis was born in Richmond on Oct. 11, 1945. She was the daughter of Woodrow W. Abbott and Dorothy S. Abbott and the widow of George Dandridge Ellis Jr.
She entered heavens gates on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Patricia was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Over the years she blessed many with her paintings and her artistic abilities.
Patricia had an unwavering faith in God. She was a longtime member of Hermitage Baptist Church.
Patricia was a longtime member of the Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and enjoyed preparing and cooking for fundraisers.
She was predeceased by her brother, Woodrow W. Abbott Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Jaqueline Ellis Lawson; her husband, Allen; son, George D. Ellis III and his wife Amy; five grandchildren, Candace German (Jeremy), Brittany Elias, Barron Lawson (Morgan), George D. Ellis IV “Ridge,” Clayton Ellis; and one great-granddaughter, Spencer Elias. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Smith; brother, Eugene Abbott; and many nieces and nephews.
Her sister-in-law, Frances Hundley Ellis, and nephew, Benjamin B. Ellis Jr., lovingly helped her since she moved to Wild Acres on O’Creek and during her sickness. The family gives them and everyone else who helped Patricia their greatest gratitude.
Graveside services were private on Sunday, Jan. 3 with the Rev. Dr. Candine Johnson and Ronnie Russell officiating. Pallbearers included Benjamin Ellis, Trip Ellis, Bob Baylor, Robert Franklin, Bunky Davis, Tom Langford, Boyd Clark and Mike Altice. Honorary pallbearers included Tucker Spindle and Pete Williams.
