Middlesex, VA schools to stay hybrid

Middlesex schools to keep two-days a week in-person instruction for now

The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) agreed Monday, Dec. 14, at the board’s regular monthly meeting to continue the current hybrid school plan with students attending school in-person two days a week.

The Virginia Education Association is recommending that schools go back to virtual learning, said Dr. Gretz. “Dr. Williams, whose boots are on the ground (here in our health district), is not recommending it,” he said. “I’m taking his advice and not recommending that we change.”

Assistant School Superintendent Tracy Seitz explained how she is monitoring daily information on state and local COVID-19 case spreads. “We are going to continue to move forward with caution,” said Dr. Gretz.


Another exposure

On Dec. 16 Dr. Gretz emailed the “MCPS Families” that a staff member of the division-wide operations team has been quarantined due to a confirmed exposure to COVID-19 outside of school.

Since COVID-19 started, the MCPS system has reported one staff member and one student who have tested positive and four staff members and five students have been quarantined…
