With the pull-out of developers in the Cooks Corner brewpub project, at least one county supervisor feels an urgency now to repair the roof on the old Rappahannock Central Elementary (RCE) school cafeteria/auditorium building.
Harmony Village Supervisor Reggie Williams cautioned board members on Tuesday, Dec. 1, that the roof at RCE is in need of major repair and needs to be worked on soon.
Gov. Ralph Northam announced on March 25, 2019, that the county had been awarded more than $2.7 million in grants from the commonwealth to support the project, of which $1.35 million would go to the brewpub.
The severe pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic forced developers of the proposed Cooks Corner project to pull out of the project, leaving the Middlesex County Economic Development Authority (EDA) in the lurch and searching for other private partners to move forward with the project.
