David John Holstrom

David John Holstrom, 65, of Doswell, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 after a courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born in Richmond on July 6, 1955.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mae H. Kelly (Dr. Frank R. Kelly) and Edward E. Holstrom.

He is survived by the love of his life, Elizabeth Gillie; his loving daughter, Denise Mae Holstrom (Jeff Meade); stepdaughters, Becca and Caitlin Gillie; grandsons, Blayne Holstrom and Jefferson Meade; brothers, Ed Holstrom (Pam) and Jim Holstrom; sister, Sarah H. Wiggins (Pete); stepbrothers, Bob Kelly (Fran), Michael Kelly (Christine), Reid Kelly (Margaret); stepsisters, Mary Pat Clark, Colleen McNally (Tom); many loved nieces, nephews, cousins; and his dear friend of many years, Suzanne Fleet.

David worked in construction for his entire professional life and was, for the last 12 years, a superintendent for Dallan Construction of Richmond. He loved his work and took great pride in each project he supervised to completion. He thrived on quality construction and making his clients satisfied customers.

David loved spending time on his boat with his family in the waters throughout the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. He loved to fish and explore the tidal rivers. If the wind blew too hard, he was always up for grilling and having a party in the marina. He made friends wherever he went and was known to entertain all with a humorous story or two.

A celebration of life will be conducted at a later date. Memorials in honor of David may be directed to the charity of your choice.
