The Middlesex Water Authority (MWA) has paid off the $1.7 million loan that the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (BOS) made to the MWA a few years ago.
The MWA was created by the Middlesex supervisors in 2014. An authority is an independent entity separate from the governing body. An authority is supposed to operate independently and in the MWA’s case is to be funded by water customers.
The county loaned the money to the MWA for engineering and technical services needed to get the water system established.
The Eastern Middlesex water system will be 40 miles long and will pump water from two wells near Urbanna to Topping and Deltaville. Construction is slated to begin this fall…
