Church View P.O. work to start soon

Construction of a new Church View Post Office building is expected to begin within the next 90 days, said Middlesex County Board of Supervisor (MCBS) chairman and Jamaica District representative Wayne Jessie.

Jessie said last week in a telephone interview that he had contacted the office of U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1st Dist., in Washington, D.C., and was told that plans to build a new post office had been delayed due to COVID-19.

Back in February 2020, the postal service removed an old post office trailer being used as Church View Post Office and replaced it with a “U.S. Post Office on Wheels” postal truck.

The MCBS voted unanimously on a resolution in February to encourage Wittman and the U.S. Congress to keep Church View Post Office open…
