Middlesex Habitat breaks ground on its 14th house

Middlesex Habitat for Humanity conducted a ground-breaking ceremony for its 14th house on Oct. 1. Joining their mother Aimee Roye in tossing the first shovels of dirt during the ceremony are daughters Kianna Roye, left, and Jada Roye. Other ceremony participants include, from left, Habitat Vice President Greg Chambers, Habitat board member Elizabeth Hurd, Aimee’s mother Vanessa Roye, Habitat President Jackie Wake, Middlesex Board of Supervisors Chairman Wayne Jessie, and Supervisor Reggie Williams. A little more than 20 years ago a group of Middlesex County residents and religious leaders gathered together and formed the Middlesex Habitat for Humanity chapter. The goal then, as it is today, was to give families a chance to share in the American dream of home ownership.

Middlesex Habitat for Humanity is starting a six-home subdivision on Bob’s Hole Road, near Regent Road in Topping. Four families have qualified for a home in the subdivision. Among them is Aimee Roye and her daughters Kianna Roye, 5, and Jada Roye, 7. The Royes’ home will be the 14th home built by Middlesex Habitat.

Habitat is an organization that operates under specific rules and regulations…
