Speight gets third PGA win since Aug.

Locust Hill golfer boasts impressive string of victories

Josh Speight of Locust Hill won his third golf tournament in five weeks when he captured the Mid-Atlantic PGA Players Cup on Sept. 28 and 29 at the Williamsburg Golf Club.

Speight shot a 12 under 96 for the 27 holes with no bogeys. He carded 12 birdies to win by nine shots. Speight led the entire tournament and the field of 44 golfers.

On Aug. 24-26 Speight birdied his final hole to secure a one-stroke victory at the 99th Maryland State Golf Association’s Maryland Open Championship against 220 players at the Country Club of Woodmore in Mitchellville, Md., a suburb of Washington, D.C.

Last month, Speight birdied three of his last four holes to win the Mid-Atlantic PGA Southern Chapter Championship and Southern Chapter Assistant Championship on Sept. 14. He recorded a one under par 71 to take the title by two shots at Wintergreen Resort, Stoney Creek, in Nelson County, south of Waynesboro.
