Middlesex now “high risk” for COVID-19 cases

Death toll in county climbs to nine, 110 MC coronavirus cases reported

Coronavirus has hit Middlesex County residents hard over the summer as the community has had nine deaths from the virus.

Director of Three Rivers Health District Dr. Richard Williams said this week that Middlesex had a high jump in cases in July and August due to an outbreak in one of the county’s two long-term health care facilities.

In the last two weeks, however, Middlesex has had nine new cases of community spread unrelated to the nursing home. This makes the county a “high risk” community according to calculations used by the Centers of Disease Control (CDC), said Dr. Williams.

The calculation is based on the nine cases and the county’s 11,000 population…
