Dorothy N. Latimore Scott

Dorothy N. Latimore Scott was born Oct. 12, 1932 to the late Bertha G. Johnson Wormley and Archie C. Wormley.

She departed this life on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020.

In her youth, she was baptized and became a member of First Baptist Church Harmony Village. Also, she was a 1951 graduate of St. Clare Walker High School. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Edward T. Latimore. During this time, she became a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She served faithfully in several positions in the church, including the trustee board. She and Edward shared many wonderful years together before he preceded her in death.

She was an employee of the former Leggett Department Store in West Point. She was known for her hospitable touch with all the customers. She also was employed as a school bus driver for Middlesex County. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Progressive Chapter #135 and United 169 Order of Eastern Star Prince Hall affiliated of Virginia. She was an avid gardener, expert seamstress and all-around, wonderful homemaker. She loved arts and crafts and was always changing the outdoor décor in her yard to compliment the current season. She was known for selling homemade ice cream, dinners and vegetables; she could sell anything.

Later in life, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Jesse Franklin Scott Sr. God blessed them with many years of bliss before he preceded her in death.

Dorothy truly was a community oriented lady who overwhelmingly helped anyone she could. Her memory will be cherished by a host of family and friends.
