“The show must go on.”
This saying echoes the spirit of the Urbanna Oyster Festival, conducted annually since 1958. Although the area’s premier fall event and official State Oyster Festival has been canceled for this year, two popular festival highlights will still be offered — and they will be available for viewing online.
The crowning of the Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen and Little Miss Spat and the Virginia Oyster Shucking Contest will be posted online on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. in an “interactive” format allowing viewers to interact with one another through comments. “We’ll be engaging with the audience while its being broadcast,” said Whitney Law, a member of the Urbanna Oyster Festival Foundation board.
