
Off to super start with 34 children
Smiles, laughter and lots of excitement describe the first day of classes (Aug. 24) for the Buoys and Gulls Preschool at Lower United Methodist Church. The staff at the Hartfield preschool carefully prepared for the day, making sure that everything was ready to receive the children and keep them healthy. This year they have registered 34 children in alternating days to keep an appropriate ratio of students and teachers.
Kelly Jackson Walden, director of Buoys and Gulls Preschool, is making sure everyone follows the screening protocol at the entrance, including the staff. There is a curbside drop-off for the children so the parents don’t have to come in. Everyone’s temperature is checked and a COVID-19 screening form is filled out. The children will not bring book bags, because all they need for learning will be provided by the talented teachers in charge.
Equipped with a new fogging machine, gracefully donated by Love4kids, and ultraviolet air sanitizers, the inside area is sanitized and disinfected twice a day, including the bathrooms.
