Middlesex response rate 27% below state average; funding losses feared

It is “census year” and time for Middlesex County households to fill out the 2020 United States Census.
Some Middlesex residents have already filled out the census. The county is currently at a 40.8% self-response rate, which is below the Virginia state average of 67%.
The county’s response rate is about 27% below the statewide average. Currently, just more than 4,000 people in Middlesex have filled out the census. Of the 40.8%, 28.3% filled it out over the Internet. It can be completed online https://my2020census.gov/, by telephone (844) 330-2020, paper and enumerator.
The census counts all residents in a household. If households have not already filled out the census an enumerator (census taker) will be visiting the home.
