Deltaville hopes to snuff out Smokies in Richmond today; championship is this Sunday

Wet weather wreaked havoc on the final games of the Deltaville Deltas’ regular season. Rain-outs reigned last weekend, leaving the squad with a third place record of 9-2 in league play, just a game and a half behind first place Richmond Team Woody (11 – 1) and a half game back of second place Richmond Smokies (11-2). The Richmond Heaters finished in fourth, with an 8-4 record.

With the condensed season, the league playoff format commences Thursday night as a four-team, single-elimination tournament. The Deltas will take on the Smokies at Dorey Park in Richmond, while the Heaters try to topple defending champions Team Woody. The winners of those games will vie for the 2020 championship…
