The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors learned on Aug. 4 that Virginia 9-1-1 Services Board approved a grant of $893,302 for Middlesex County to fund the installation of a Next Generation 911 (NG911) at the emergency call center in Saluda.
A NG911 system uses digital technologies which enhance emergency number services to create a faster, more resilient system that allows voice, photos, videos and text messages to flow “seamlessly” from the public to the 911 network, said Eileen Koehl, communication supervisor with the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
