Evelyn Turner of Deltaville turned 98 years old on Tuesday, July 14, as more than 30 people traveled to Heron Cove at Sanders in Gloucester to celebrate a virtual birthday party for her.
“We had a successful social distancing 98th birthday party,” said Carl Zulick, who along with his wife, Pat Rabb, organized the event. “Evelyn insisted we stay six feet apart and wear masks. We approached her window outside her room, one at a time, to speak to her.
The Zulick couple and other friends brought all the trimmings that go along with a birthday party — balloons, flowers, cards and cake.
Evelyn and her late husband Andy first came to live in Deltaville in the 1970s. When Andy died, Evelyn and others provided funding to establish the Deltaville Maritime Museum’s Turner Lecture Series. The annual lecture series…
