The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors learned at its regular monthly meeting on July 7 the county has been awarded a $150,000 planning grant from the Virginia Port Authority (VPA) to study dredging of Parrott’s Creek in Water View.
Curt Smith of the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission (MPPDC) congratulated supervisors on having received the grant. The grant is coming from the Virginia Waterway Maintenance Fund and is a match-free grant paid exclusively by VPA, he said.
There is annually $1.3 million available from VPA each year to be used for planned maintenance of creeks that are known to have navigational issues. This is the beginning…
