Team will take on Mechanicsville in rematch, then will host Avalanche
by Stephen Blue –
Offensive production continued to not be a problem for the Deltaville Deltas this past weekend, but a defensive lapse in the final inning of Sunday’s game doomed the Deltas to their first regular season league loss in two years. Deltaville defeated the Richmond El Heaters by the score of 12-2 in Deltaville Ballpark on Saturday, but a 10-run onslaught by Richmond Team Woody in the final two innings propelled them past the Deltas in a 14-5 game on Sunday.
Deltaville now stands at 6-1 in league play, and 7-2 overall. Deltaville, Team Woody, and the Richmond Smokies all sit at the top of the standings, each with one league loss.
The Deltas returned to play Wednesday night for a road game against the Richmond Brewers that was not completed before press time. On Friday night, the Deltas will host the Mechanicsville Hawks in a rematch of their only other loss of the season. On Saturday, Deltaville returns to league play, hosting the Richmond Avalanche. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m. at Deltaville Ballpark.
