Oyster queen, little spat pair aim to make roadsides safer

Sara Murray and Little Miss Spat Caroline Ward are competing in the 63rd annual Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen and Little Miss Spat Competition. (Even though it was announced last week that the festival is canceled, the queen-miss spat competition is still being offered.)

For their community service project, the girls have chosen to support the “Move Over Virginia” law locally with “Move Over Middlesex.” This cause is near and dear to their hearts, with both of their fathers being first responders. One of the leading causes of death and injury for first responders are injuries sustained while operating at roadside incidents. With the funds that they raise, the girls intend to purchase highway safety equipment for first responders to be used by all four of the volunteer fire departments…
