Christchurch School announced recently the names of students receiving honors at the end-of-year virtual underclass awards ceremony.
Sarah Grace Kosek, daughter of Shannon and Patrick Kosek of St. Stephens Church, was named recipient of the ninth grade Outstanding Student award. The award recognizes the boy and girl in the ninth grade who have best exemplified excellence in scholarship, co-curricular participation, and citizenship for that school year. Sarah Grace is an honor roll student and a member of the girls soccer team. She was recognized with the Spirit award for her work with the River and Outdoor afternoon program.
Jackson Kiland, son of Kristin and Ing Kiland of Christchurch, was named recipient of the 10th Grade Outstanding Student award. The award recognizes the boy and girl in the 10th grade who have best exemplified excellence in scholarship, co-curricular participation and citizenship for that school year. Jackson is an honor roll student, a member of the Judicial Council, and a member of the lacrosse, boys soccer and swim teams. He was recognized this winter with the Coach award for varsity swimming.
Students with Middlesex County-area connections inducted into the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society include Taylor Berry, Cameron DeVries, Latane Montague and Jackson Kiland. Members of NHS are recognized for values of scholarship, service, leadership and character.
Taylor is the daughter of Lauren and Jonathan Berry of Urbanna. She is an honor roll student, and member of the Judicial Council. In the ninth grade, Taylor was recognized with the Outstanding Student award and received the varsity girls soccer Most Valuable Player award.
Cameron is the grandson of Helen and George DeVries of Urbanna. He is an honor roll student and a member of the junior varsity boys soccer team. He participates in the River and Outdoor and Drama afternoon programs.
Latane, son of Patricia and Robert Montague of Alexandria, is the grandson of Robert Montague, Class of 1952, of Urbanna. Latane is an honor roll student, a member of the Judicial Council, and a member of the football, boys basketball and lacrosse teams. In 2018-2019 he was recipient of the ninth grade Outstanding Student award, the JV Basketball Hustle award, and the junior varsity lacrosse Most Valuable Player award.
