On June 25, the Urbanna Town Council unanimously approved the budget for fiscal year 2020-2021, which began July 1.
The total budget is $753,300, a decrease of about $44,000 from the 2019-2020 budget total of $797,800. The general fund makes up $519,000, and the water fund is $190,000. The marina fund is $41,000 and will get a $9,000 subsidy from the general fund.
The town has $93,000 in reserves. The town is currently debt free.
The budget includes a 1.6% “cost of living adjustment” commonly called “COLA.” This amounts to a pay increase for town employees and Councilor Larry Chowning said the town council is the only public body in Middlesex County that is increasing pay of employees…
