A new summer baseball league, including seven teams of up-and-coming area high school players, will begin play Monday, July 6.
Games will be played at Deltaville Ballpark and Dream Fields in Kilmarnock.
The schedule includes 43 games and extends through Aug. 14.
The teams are named after branches of the Armed Forces. Middlesex County has two teams, including the Middlesex Army and Middlesex Marines. They open the season against each other at 7 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Deltaville Ballpark. The league was organized by Joey Fitchett of Middlesex and its teams include rising eighth through 11th graders and were open to players participating on area high school and middle school teams.
