The Rev. Dr. Mary Geraldine Thorne Garnett of Shacklefords, a native of Middlesex County, born on Dec. 22, 1932, transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.
The daughter of her late parents James Thorne and Mary Olive Paulk Thorne-Tabb is survived by her husband, the Rev. Garry W. Garnett; daughters, Joyce G. Bassette (Reginald) of Chesterfield County, and Carolyn Garnett of Henrico County; sisters, Inez Thorne-Brokenborough of Philadelphia, Pa., and Sarah Tabb-Thompson of Petersburg; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The viewing is set for 2-6 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at J.K. Redmond Funeral Home at 3632 Lewis B. Puller Memorial Highway in Shacklefords. A graveside celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 26, at First Baptist Church Cemetery at 398 Hockley Lane in Shacklefords.
