William H. Sapp Sr., 76, of Church View, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at his home with his wife by his side and his family nearby. He was greeted in Heaven by his daughter Debbie Sapp, grandson Jesse Walton and many other loved ones.
He was born and raised in Paris, Texas, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
William (Bill, Tex, Pop Pop) loved spending time with his family, his church family and playing his guitars and singing gospel music. He was continuously learning new songs, lyrics and chords. He helped lead many to Christ right to the very end and he took great comfort in knowing that we knew we would be reunited with him in Heaven.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Julie Marshall Sapp; his children, Vickie Wright (Dale), Teresa Bohannon (Bill), Connie Thomas, Tansle Roane (Richard), William Sapp Jr. (Virginia); 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He retired from Chesapeake Corp/Smurfit Stone as a supervisor after more than 42 years of service. He was a respected co-worker.
He loved hunting, fishing, attending the children, “greats’ and grands’ ” ball games, plays and other events. He would joke around at the dinner table like he was the biggest child there, which he was. He was a great husband, father and a loyal and trusted friend.
Due to the current coronavirus restrictions, there will be a private service for immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
