“Weaponizing whiteness” divisive, makes achieving peace elusive

It is with some fear and trembling I choose to venture into the realm of protests and politics. First, because I always strive to present the gospel of Jesus Christ as apolitically as possible, following the example of the Lord who always refused to be drawn into the politics of his time. Second, because I fear being misunderstood and having my words taken in a way that I do not mean. Third, because there is much that I do not know or understand.

My first suggestion is that everyone watch “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man” by former NFL player Emmanuel Acho. I feel Mr. Acho does an excellent job talking to white Americans about the feelings and attitudes of persons of color today.

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount includes the admonition that we should not attempt to remove the splinter from our brother’s eye while there is a beam in our eye. I readily admit that I am the brother with the beam and need someone’s help that I may see clearly. I need…
