Wastewater pump station may be built in Taber Park

The Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD), which owns and operates the Urbanna wastewater treatment plant, has approached the town council about building a pump station in Taber Park. A parcel measuring 100- by 100-feet is needed, plus an easement for service vehicles.

Councilor Boyd Wiley commented that the station would take away “prime property” from the park. A 100- by 100-foot parcel is about a quarter acre.

The building is being proposed for the corner where the town community swimming pool is now located. This scenario assumes the town will be building a new pool at a different location. The town is preparing to seek requests…
