Concerns over COVID-19 caused the Urbanna Town Council to keep the town pool closed and cancel the fireworks that had been set for July 2. Council also agreed to keep the bathroom and showers at the town marina closed to help slow the coronavirus spread.
Council’s action took place at its May 14 work session meeting.

Pool plans
Council voted to not open the town pool for the 2020 season and to transfer about $15,000 that would have been spent on the pool operation this year into the pool replacement fund.
No fireworks
Council also decided to not display fireworks, which had been set for July 2. Council also voted to ask the fireworks company to credit the $5,000 deposit which the town has made to next year. The fireworks cost $11,000.
